Mr. Zindel - My English students are curious how to interpret Beatrice's nightmare in . . . Gamma Rays . . .
At one point, Beatrice seems to respect her father deeply ("made up for all the other men"), but then the appearance of his face in a window across the street seems to have nearly traumatized Beatrice. And the nightmare abruptly ends. Was her father having an affair with a neighbor across the street, and that's why this was a nightmare - the day of her discovering her father's infidelity? Or was he "keeping watch" over her in some non-physical way? Did you have one implication in mind? Thank you, and we love this play!

Hi Paul, in my class, we have just got finish reading The Pigman. I think that's a really cool book. I actually understand Mr.Pignati's loneliness, accept for the two eart attacks. I once tought I was lonely, but I realized, that my friends and family love me no matter what. They don't care how random I am Mr. Zindel, they're just glad that i'm am here and healthy. I can relate to Mr. Pignati. His wife died so, he was very lonely. I guess Mr. Pignati had someone but didn't know it. Sure, Lorraine and John are trouble makers, mostly John, but they have come to realize that this man (refering to Mr. Pignati) was a lonely man wit no one to look up to. Well, gotta finish this homework that's about you. Talk to ya later. ^^ :)

Is the Pigman available as an audiobook, or has it ever been? I am trying to find it on cd or cassette, but am having no luck. Might I find it used?

'The Pigman' is one of the best books I've read. I even got really inspired and wanted to write Paul Zindel. It probably broke my heart more to know that he is deceased than to read about the pigman dying. When I grow up I want to do something in the film industry. It would be great to make a screenplay out of 'The Pigman'!!

I just read the Pigman for a class project. The book was well written and I'm sure it was a great book for many people but I was expecting some kind of twist like the Pigman was a murderer or something, the story wasn't that interesting to me but I would recommend it to certain people who
I think would get in to that kind of book.

Mr. Zindel
You are a great writer I like the book The Pigman. I wonder when The Pigman Returns comes out?! My twin sister and I are almost like John and Lorraine in the laughting part. My twin sister and my favorite part was when John and Lorraine's frist kiss. It was sad at the end when the pigman died. My life is ALMOST like the book The Pigman. I hate reading about when I read your book it made me like read a LITTLE. But I can't wait until The Pigman Returns comes out.

Dear Mr. Zendel,

I just read your book "The Doom Stone". I thought it was a good book because of the rich vocabulary, high suspense and the pictures it puts in your head as you read. So here are a few questions I have after reading "The Doom Stone".
1. How did you come up with the idea for the book?
2. Were the characters inspired to you by family members?
3. How did you come up with the ending?
I feel this is an overal good book becasue it is for action and suspense lovers. I happen to be one of them! So until next time, I wish you good health and prosperity.
Sincerely yours,

renne 12-9-2007 07:01 PM

Dear Paul Zindel,
We are both 6th graders at Newfane Elementary School. We just finished reading Loch. Loch was a great thriller of a book. We were blown away from beginning to end. As soon as we finished the book we knew we needed more. This book has everything 11 to 15 year old guys like, violence, blood, interesting language, mystery. We thought the grossness was awesome. We were really upset when the Rogue died. You described the story so well we felt like we were there.
We think you should write a sequel to the book and make a movie. We are also going to try to read some of your other books. We really thank you for writing this book.
Sincerely Patrick and Troy

The only book I've read from him was "The Doom Stone" and I have to say, I did not enjoy it. I had to read it for school and it just wasn't my favorite kind of book.

In The Pigman's Legacy, John and Lorraine tell the story after it happens, as far as we know. In the end of the book they announced their love for each other. However, they have the "secret" love paragraphs which they hide from each other. If they wrote the story after they admitted their love to each other why did they need to make the paragraphs "secret"?

Mr. Zendel was my Chem Teacher in Tottenville High in 1964. Good guy, great sense of humor and could laugh at himself, especially the day he mixed too much sulfur and iron and blew himself up in class - really! I never forgot him.
